Sell My Business Playbook (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a marketing and education site run by James Bell with Data Jockey LLC. We help business owners get ready to sell, and we offer a free playbook and a free 30-minute call. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use this site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to give us. We do not buy your personal information or build hidden profiles on you.

Information you give us

• When you request the free playbook: your first name, your email address, your revenue band, and your rough timeline for selling. You type these into the form yourself.
• When you book a call: the details our scheduling tool needs to set the meeting, which can include your name, email address, and any notes you add. The booking itself happens on Cal.com.
• When you email us: whatever you put in the message, including your email address and anything you tell us about your business.

Information collected automatically

• Basic request data: when you submit a form, our server briefly sees your IP address. We use it only to rate-limit submissions and cut down on spam and abuse. We do not use it to track you around the web.
• Standard hosting logs: our hosting provider may log routine technical information, such as the pages requested and timestamps, to keep the site running and secure.

How we use your information

• To send you the free Exit Readiness Playbook you asked for.
• To schedule and hold the free call you booked.
• To follow up about getting your business ready to sell, and to answer questions you send us.
• To run, secure, and improve the site, including limiting spam and abuse.
• To comply with the law when we are required to.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone to use for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We share your information only with the service providers that make this site work, and only so they can do that job for us. The main ones are:

• Resend delivers the playbook email and our follow-up messages. Your name and email pass through it so the email can reach you.
• Cloudflare D1 stores the lead details you submit (name, email, revenue band, and timeline) in our own database so we can follow up with you.
• Cal.com runs the call booking. When you book, the details you enter are handled by Cal.com to set up the meeting.
• Our hosting and infrastructure providers run the website and handle routine technical logs.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or property and that of others. If our business is ever transferred, your information could move with it, and this policy would continue to apply.

How long we keep it

We keep the information you give us for as long as we are in touch with you about selling your business, and for a reasonable period after that for records and legal reasons. When we no longer need it, we delete it or remove the parts that identify you. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

Your choices and how to opt out

• Stop emails: click the unsubscribe link in any message, or email us at sellmybusinessplaybook@gmail.com and ask to be removed. We will take you off the list.
• See, correct, or delete your data: email us and tell us what you want. We will confirm your request and act on it.
• Skip the forms: you can read the whole site without giving us any personal information. The forms are optional.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain uses of it. This includes rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the European Union and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing for you to opt out of on that front. We will verify your request and respond within the time the law allows, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

Children

This site is for business owners and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information you give us, and we rely on established providers to store and move it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your information protected.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so it is worth checking back from time to time.
